What happens if drawing changes in a reissue application are not approved?

If drawing changes in a reissue application are not approved or if a submitted sheet of drawings is not entered, the examiner will inform the applicant in the next Office action. The MPEP states:

“If any drawing change is not approved, or if any submitted sheet of drawings is not entered, the examiner will so inform the reissue applicant in the next Office action, and the examiner will set forth the reasons for same.”

This process ensures that:

  • Applicants are promptly notified of any issues with their drawing submissions.
  • The reasons for non-approval or non-entry are clearly communicated.
  • Applicants have an opportunity to address the issues in their response to the Office action.
