What are the compatibility requirements for a “Sequence Listing XML” file?

According to MPEP 2413.02, the “Sequence Listing XML” file must have the following compatibilities:
- Computer compatibility: PC or Mac®
- Operating system compatibility: MS-DOS®, MS-Windows®, Mac OS®, or Unix®/Linux®
As stated in the MPEP, “In order for the USPTO to be able to process the .xml file containing the “Sequence Listing XML”, all characters must be encoded using Unicode UTF-8.” This ensures that the file can be properly read and processed by the USPTO systems.
