What information is included in the Index of Claims?

The Index of Claims contains several key pieces of information about the claims in a patent application. As described in the MPEP 719.04:

  • Claim numbers during prosecution
  • Status of each claim
  • Final numbering of allowed claims (if applicable)

Additionally, A space is provided above each adjacent column for completion by the examiner to indicate the date of each Office action together with the resulting status of each claim. This allows for a comprehensive overview of the claim history throughout the examination process.
