To cancel a figure in a patent application, you should: Submit an amendment clearly stating which figure(s) are being canceled Update the specification to remove references to the canceled figure(s) Renumber remaining figures if necessary Update figure descriptions in the specification accordingly The MPEP states: When a figure is canceled, the applicant, in order to avoid confusion, should also cancel (1) any reference to the figure in the specification; and (2) any other figures if their meaning depends upon the canceled figure.
