How can a patent owner change the correspondence address for supplemental examination?

To change the correspondence address for a supplemental examination proceeding, the patent owner must take two steps, as outlined in MPEP 2804:

  1. File a change of correspondence address in the file of the patent for which supplemental examination is requested.
  2. File a change of correspondence address in the supplemental examination proceeding itself.

The MPEP states:

“If the patent owner wishes the Office to direct correspondence regarding the supplemental examination proceeding to an address other than the official correspondence address of record in the file of the patent, then the patent owner must file a change of correspondence address in the file of the patent. A change of correspondence address should also be filed in the supplemental examination proceeding.”

For more details on this process, refer to MPEP § 2805.
