The labeling requirements for compact discs containing ASCII plain text files are as follows:

  • Each compact disc must be labeled with the following information:
    • The name of each inventor (if known at the time of submission)
    • Title of the invention
    • The docket number, or application number if known
    • The date of recording
    • The disc number (e.g., “1 of X”)
    • The file name for each file on the disc

MPEP 608.05 states: “A compact disc containing such a file must be labeled with each inventor’s name, the title of the invention, the docket number (if applicable) or application number (if known), the date of recording, and the disc number (e.g., ‘1 of X’).”
