What are the mandatory file name extensions for Sequence Listing XML files?

According to MPEP 2413.02, the mandatory file name extensions for Sequence Listing XML files are:

  • .xml for the XML file
  • .zip for the compressed file (if applicable)

The MPEP states: “The file name extension must be either .xml or .zip. No other file name extensions will be accepted.” This requirement ensures consistency and proper processing of Sequence Listing XML files by the USPTO systems.
