This page is an FAQ based on guidance from the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure. It is provided as guidance, with links to the ground truth sources. This is information only: it is not legal advice.

To find the U.S. application number corresponding to an international design registration, you can use the USPTO’s Patent Center. The MPEP provides this guidance:

“The U.S. application number corresponding to the international registration may be found by searching the international registration number using Patent Center.”

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Visit the USPTO Patent Center
  2. Use the search function to enter the international registration number
  3. The search results will display the corresponding U.S. application number

This method is available after the international registration has been published under Article 10(3) of the Hague Agreement and the USPTO has made the application file publicly available.
