When submitting Sequence Listing XML files on physical media, proper labeling is crucial. The MPEP provides specific instructions:
“Physical media containing a Sequence Listing XML must be labeled as “Sequence Listing XML.” The physical media itself must be labeled with:
- (A) The name of each inventor (if known);
- (B) Title of the invention;
- (C) The application number and filing date, if known or available;
- (D) The art unit and name of the examiner, if known or available; and
- (E) The total number of discs/disks in the submission, along with an indication of the disc’s/disk’s order (e.g., “1 of 3”).” (MPEP 2413.03)
Ensure all required information is clearly visible on the physical media label to avoid processing delays.
