Do I need to sign the Notice of Appeal?

The MPEP provides guidance on the signature requirement for a Notice of Appeal:

Although the rules do not require that the notice of appeal be signed, applicants may file notices of appeal which are signed.

However, it’s important to note that while the Notice of Appeal itself doesn’t require a signature, other documents submitted with it might. The MPEP cautions:

It should be noted that the elimination of the requirement to sign a notice of appeal does not affect the requirements for other papers (such as an amendment under 37 CFR 1.116) submitted with the notice, or for other actions contained within the notice, e.g., an authorization to charge fees to a deposit account or to a credit card, to be signed.

Therefore, while you don’t need to sign the Notice of Appeal, it’s crucial to ensure that any accompanying documents requiring signatures are properly signed to avoid potential issues with your appeal.
