What are the requirements for submitting a “Sequence Listing XML” file?

The requirements for submitting a “Sequence Listing XML” file are as follows:

  • The file must be submitted as a single XML file.
  • It must comply with the requirements of 37 CFR 1.824(b)(6).
  • The file should be named “SequenceListing.xml”.
  • It must be submitted via the USPTO patent electronic filing system as a “Sequence Listing XML” file.

According to MPEP 608.05, “A ‘Sequence Listing XML’ in XML file format may be submitted as an ASCII plain text file. The XML file must comply with applicable requirements of 37 CFR 1.824(b)(6) and be submitted as a single XML file via the USPTO patent electronic filing system as a ‘Sequence Listing XML’ file.”
