How are SIRs published and numbered?

According to the MPEP, SIRs are published and numbered as follows:

  • Published SIRs are sequentially numbered in a separate “H” series, starting with number “H1”.
  • A notice of the publication of each statutory invention registration is published in the Official Gazette.
  • The SIR is mailed to the requester at the correspondence address provided.
