Supplemental examination papers must adhere to specific formatting requirements as outlined in MPEP 2806:
- Follow the guidelines in 37 CFR 1.52 for paper size, writing, margins, and other general formatting.
- Comply with 37 CFR 1.72(b) for the abstract format on a separate sheet.
- Use a top margin of at least 2 cm (3/4 inch) on the first page.
- Include a heading with “Mail Stop Supplemental Examination” on the first page.
- Clearly mark all papers with “SUPPLEMENTAL EXAMINATION.”
